THE CUBE | BIRMINGHAM’S PREMIER DESTINATION
THE CUBE – BIRMINGHAM’S PREMIER DESTINATION
Widely considered one of the most compelling additions to Birmingham’s ever-changing skyline, The Cube is a world-class destination located in the heart of the city. Home to a vibrant mix of indulgent restaurants and bars, a luxury hotel, boutique bowling alley, aspirational apartments and prime office space, this 25-storey structure also includes the UK’s largest automated car park.
The Cube is located just minutes from New Street Station, The Mailbox, Brindleyplace, the ICC and Birmingham’s impressive retail offering that includes The Bullring and newly opened Grand Central. Designed by award-winning architects Ken Shuttleworth and Make, the building’s iconic jewel-like exterior is complemented by an interior filled with evocative bronze sculptures by renowned local street artist, Temper.
KEN SHUTTLEWORTH – THE MAN BEHIND THE VISION
The mission was clear, to create an iconic landmark that would strikingly marry Birmingham’s industrial heritage with a vision of the future. Award-winning architect Ken Shuttleworth was chosen for the project, whose world-class portfolio includes The Gherkin and Hong Kong’s Chek Lap Kok Airport. Taking inspiration from the city’s jewellery making tradition, his vision for The Cube was to create “an enchanting jewellery box” rich with light and intricate gold and bronze geometric shapes. Mission accomplished.
