Valentine’s Day at Home

Although this Valentine’s may not be the romantic day you had envisaged, there are still plenty of ways to make it a special occasion.

So, whilst we’re all missing a glass of fizz on Level 25, bowling and retro arcade games at Lane7, or a delicious meal at one of our fabulous restaurants, we wanted to provide you with some ideas on how you can still celebrate Valentine’s at home.

One – Cocktail making

Taking inspiration from the delicious cocktail menus at our very own Rodizio Rico and Marco Pierre White, why not try your hand at cocktail making and have a competition with each other to see whose is better?

Our recommendation, a delicious Espresso Martini – the perfect after dinner drink in two simple steps:

  1. Chill 2 Martini glasses. Put the vodka (65ml), Tia Maria (75ml) and freshly brewed espresso (75ml) into a lidded jam jar or cocktail shaker with a handful of ice. Using hot espresso helps to create a creamy head on the cocktail.
  2. Shake vigorously for 30 seconds until well-chilled, then strain into the glasses. Top each with 3 coffee beans, if you like.

Two – recreate your favourite date night

Many of us have found ourselves wearing loungewear day in and day out during lockdown, so why not use Valentine’s Day as the perfect time to get dressed up?

Recreating your favourite date night is a perfectly romantic idea. If you’re reminiscing about your time at Bardolino, then make it an Italian-themed night. Whether you opt to order in or cook up some delicious Italian delicacies yourself, make sure you immerse yourself in the theme by putting on some Italian music and enjoying some beautiful wine.

If you want to keep it simple, then don’t forget that JAQKS and Rodizio Rico remain open for all your takeaway cravings. Contact them directly for more information.

Three – breakfast in bed

Simple gestures like breakfast in bed become special when you take them to the next level. Why not go all out and make it hotel style with a breakfast tray? Taking inspiration from Hotel Indigo’s breakfast courtesy of Marco Pierre White chefs, we would recommend a delicious continental breakfast. From fresh fruit and blueberry muffins, to buttery croissants and berry conserves, make a spread of their favourite things—it’s sure to go down a treat with your loved one.

Four – spa evening

Relax and unwind this Valentine’s Day…it does fall on a Sunday this year after all. With this in mind, we think planning an at home spa evening sounds like the perfect set up. Get the face masks out, the massage oils, light some candles, put on some relaxing music and enjoy. And if you close your eyes…it may just feel like you’re in TheClubandSpa at The Cube – we’re missing it as much as you are!

Five – wrap up and go for a walk

If you live locally to The Cube and it’s a nice day, then go on a walk and get some fresh air together, all whilst exploring the popular walks along our nearby canals. Read our ‘Off out for a walk?’ blog to learn more about the picturesque surroundings along the canal.

Next time you’re walking past The Cube don’t forget to take a picture and share it with us on social media using #TheCubePicOfTheMonth, and we’ll choose our favourite at the end of February to share across all our social channels.

However you choose to spend Valentine’s this year, we hope it’s a happy and safe one and we look forward to welcoming you back at The Cube when we can.
