An icon is born - the jewel of Birmingham

Law Society and SRA announce move to The Cube - 06/01/12

The Law Society and Solicitors Regulation Authority is set to occupy the 57,000sq ft remaining large office floors at The Cube in what is believed to be the Midlands' biggest Grand A property deal of the year.

The news comes as the SRA and Law Society consolidate their Redditch and Leamington Spa offices to create a home for 700 employees in the prime city centre location, which will now become the new headquarters of the Solicitors Regulation Authority, and the base for the team of support staff who provide services to both the SRA and Law Society.

A bespoke fit out of the BRREAM Excellent rated office space will begin early this year for occupation by the middle of 2012. The Law Society will join existing office tenants, Highways Agency, and design consultancy IBI Group and sees The Cube's offices fully let.

Neil Edginton, Director at The Cube, said: "We're delighted to welcome the Law Society and the SRA to what we firmly believe is Birmingham's best business address."

Desmond Hudson, CEO of the Law Society, commented:
"We've taken time to view a range of options which best fit our criteria before deciding on The Cube. Consolidating our four current Midlands buildings and all our Midlands-based staff together in one building will reduce our costs, make us more effective and more efficient and support the provision of high quality services for our members. The Cube offers us a better, greener and more centrally located working environment for our staff, topped with first-class transport links."
